OVK is extremely careful with ill children. With our tikes being in one of the most vulnerable and high-risk groups, we are taking the CDC warnings about influenza and other communicable diseases & illensses very seriously. Were a child to have a temperature of 99.5 or higher, he or she would need to be pick up from care within ONE HOUR. As is stated in our handbook, a child showing any symptoms of illness (other than common cold) must remain out of care for a MINIMUM of one day. Meaning, if your child shows a fever on Monday, he may return to Oak Valley Kids FEVER FREE, without medication, at opening on Wednesday. If, the day after this waiting period, the child returns and shows a fever, the child will be excluded from care for the rest of that calendar week.
We know this approach may place a huge burden on families trying to work and go to school. Please know that we are not trying to inconvenience you, but trying to keep our day care, both the children and the caregivers, from getting ill.
